With arguably one of the best views of the river in the entire Ravenwing Ranch development, Lot 23 embraces a rare opportunity to design a home deeply connected to its surroundings. Perched above the Columbia River, the site offers expansive upriver and downriver vistas, which serve as a driving force behind the design concept.
The architectural vision explores a blend of Northwest modernism and desert modernism—an intentional response to the region’s arid climate and Southwestern ecological character. In particular, the design reflects the client's desire to pursue traditional Southwest architecture, typical of Santa Fe, but interpreted through a contemporary lens. Their eclectic style adds a richness and personality to the overall vision, inviting layered textures, warm materials, and a balance between time-honored traditions and modern forms.
Rather than leaning on complex shapes, the design emphasizes simple massing, horizontal lines, and extended overhangs. Shallow, flat roofs allow for a panoramic visual experience and integrate seamlessly with the site’s topography and the community’s design guidelines. The home prioritizes light, flow, and spaciousness, both inside and out, with a focus on clean circulation and layered views.
The result is a thoughtful, modern dwelling that feels both grounded and expansive—quietly iconic, shaped by its place, and infused with the spirit and individuality of its owners.
